8月16日 outrageous perksI recently read this article on msn.com about CEO's and how they abuse shareholders through weird compensation / perks.. Very interesting read..
It is aslo fascinating how companies spend so much of thier money to retain a few and so little to retain the most... May be these CEO's are really worth it ? Do they really do miracles ? i really have no clue on what the CEO's themselves think about these perks..
what are your thoughts ? 8月13日 The Party with the newly weds...During this trip i managed to steal Suresh for a bit.. he threw a party for some of us at La Promande ( a restaurant near Pondicherry beach..) It was a big deal to get hold of the newly weds ( Suresh and Hemaambika..) but hey it was well worth the wait.. we had a good time
pictures of the get together are here..
Fit Indians... !In my recent trip to india ( July '06) i thoroughly made it a point to test out the day to day life. As a part of it i realized that the first thing many pondicherrians do is to go work out early in the morning either at the beach or the gym... My dad goes there every single day of the week.. ( gym)..
Growing up i used to play hockey and would be on my way to the grounds as early as 6 AM and on days i didn't play i used to go run in the beach.. There will hardly be about 50 people on the beach for a couple of hours.. but now its so not the case.. Every one young and old , men / women and kids all are aware of exercise and its benefits.. I was awed by what i saw every day at the Pondicherry Beach during my 3 week stay .. as early as 6 or as late as 8:30 ... the crowd as there.. lots of people doing exercises / jogging / yoga and more.. Women are at least 40% of the beach goers.. it was really inspiring to me ... I wish there was the warm weather and wonderful beach like Pondicherry right here in the Redmond Area...
Just as indians are onto Pizzazs and burgers.. they are also onto Fitness craze .. a good thing !
here are some pictures from the beach. 8月10日 What do Indians want ?Aparently , indians (cyber savy) aren't searching for thier soul or mukthi .. here is what google has to say ... http://www.google.com/press/intl-zeitgeist.html#in

Our official Team Blog is here http://blogs.msdn.com/kn 3月13日 Congratulations GraduateMy dear wife finally made it ! Yes she finished her School and is now a graduate in Master of Computer Science from the Univeristy of Washington. After 3 long years of balancing between work , home and school she is free to enjoy the world ! The feeling hasn't sunk in yet on me as we did not celebrate it as yet -- the graduations aren't scheduled to be until June that might be part of it.
The Weekly BiCycle trackerI decided to throw in a weekly tracker of my bi cycling distances. I got a new CycloComputer that basically keeps track of my speed , distance , calories and fatburn ... I am very excited about being a cyclist .. I can see myself getting better especially climbing hills. the hill on 185th Ave NE near my house used to be a real pain -- its very steep , on the downhill i clocked at 27 MPH that was really fun and you can imagine how it would be on the climb back up.
As i practice every week as though i am going to do the Seattle To Portland ride in July , its very motivating each week to keep going.. Sunday was very sunny and i rode around the beautiful Lake Sammamish in about 2 hours door to door.
Thus far my totals are as below
2/26 - 33 Miles
3/5 - 20 Miles
3/12 - 25 Miles
3/19 - 25 miles
3/26 - 35 Miles
I plan to keep this tracker going all season long. Can't wait for the week end or a sunny week day to get the bike out. The SopranosThis past sunday the official season premiere of the Sopranos aired on HBO. I couldn't wait to see it and they really delivered on it. The highlight of Season premiere guess what -- Tony was shot by Uncle Jun... I now have great hopes for this season.
Suddenly everyone in the show has really grown up from AJ with punked up hair to Carmela being older middle aged woman.. HBO has really kept this Series the best ever on paid Television.
For those of you who are not big time into the Sopranos .. I suggest joining in the Mafia and be part of the "Family" by watching the DVD's i trust you would love it. Gandolfini is at his best !
This season the Sopranos have gone hi tech too -- they are doing Podcasting , Google Maps of various locations they show crimes might have commited on the show and more :-) It's really interesting to see how technology permeates itself.
3月3日 Finally A true sense of accomplishmentViola ! i completed the big chilly hilly 33 mile ride last sunday. It was an amazing feeling to do this considering that i am not really fit for intense sports activities. I was amazed that never once despite all those daunting hills the thought of quiting caught my mind. The support vehicles were roaming around all the time.
AT the start i was a bit tensed as to how i would do this ride , but seeing old people ( late 80's ) and yound children (4-5) it was truly inspiring.
There were atleast 4000 people who participated in this ride and it was interesting to see a ferry full of bikers all around getting ready to take on the hills. The weather was cloduy and around 40 when we started but by the time i finished it was raining and i was soaking wet.
The feeling is just undescribeable.
With this new found confidence i am going to make a sincere effort to do the annual Seattle To Portland ride preperations .. the goal is to bike at least 100 miles a week .. to get me ready for STP...
I am posting a few pictures more to follow
2月17日 Chilly HIlly !A friend of Mine Murari who has been my inspiration to cycling brought it to my attention that the cycling season for this year is going to start on the 26th Feb with a 33 mile ride around bainbridge island.
Now the race is called chilly hilly for a reason , the weather offlate has been horrible here -- the windchill has been around 25F and it is only goigning to be worse over the weekend.
I am not really phsically prepared to go on this friendly race , but i decided i should try to prepare myself , so did cycling yesterday at the Pro Club. I hope i get off my somber dull rythm in life with a goal to race next sunday ...
I need to get a lot of winter cycling gear to be able to do this .. I plan to do the shopping this week at the Seattle Bicyling expo .
here is an interesting video from 2002
I am goign to try my best to go on this and even if i don't complete this race i hope to make it halfway at least. Procastination..It has been a while since i wrote anything ... It was a multitude of factors , i was sick inbetween with pneumonia , i had the seahawks loose ( i am still sore about it) and i was just plain lazy..
To break my cycle i decided at the very least i will write sometihng today .
Life has been as usual , work is going at a slow pace as we are waiting to exit a milestone and so these days its just bug fixes. I also did something which is very familiar to all of us "pouring mud on my own head" i commited to work on something else which will soon hit the air end of the year unrelated to my current work and strangely i did not do anything about it in atleast 3 weeks thus far... I think my procastination hit me there as well.
So how do you guys beat the dull slow phases especially at work ?
I have seen some coworkers beat it by drinking coffee and trying to keep themselves upbeat .THe other day a colleague of mine was drinking a Grande Cofee ( a tall starbucks coffee) but more than that he made it 4 double shots( equivalent to 8 shots of just raw coffee).. It was funny to me that he is driniking it like alcohol.
1月20日 GO hawksLast week end the seahawks proved they can be a championship calibre team to none other than the very own seahawk fans.
This week they are in the NFC championship against Carolina Panthers .. IT should be very interesting game as both teams have similar strengths and weakness. The seahawks are really going to be having a lot of fun playing at home this week end...
MY prediction SEAHAWKS 24 PANTHERS 21 Let's see how well this predicition works out to be.
Last week i saw two of my other favorite teams loose the Patriots and the COlts , Words aren't enough to see Payton Manning Loose , this guy is amazing he has been the MVP for 3 seasons , has a very good QB rating , eventually he might end up being the best QB in decades but never winning a Super Bowl!
huch... it's the common coldThis week has been pretty quick i should say , two days of training and being sick for the rest of week.
Year after year millions of people around the world fall sick with cold , cough and fever. Aparently it's due to the varying nature of the virus that is posing such a challenge to the scientific community...
Here is an interesting article on this disease that every one of us have encourtered so often http://www.lung.ca/diseases/common_cold.html
Also there are tons of myths around the common cold a few are here
Despite this i did manage to get stuff done at work and guess what my manager did say " he is ok with me working from home " conversely may be he was cynical that i do less when i am at work :-)
1月11日 It's January Baby ! And ofcourse it's the playoffs !It's the time you wait all season long the NFL playoffs..
I can't wait for the saturday game between the seahawks and the redskins...
This year has been the first time this city has ever been at the spot to reach the superbowl...
However , i feel the AFC is a much better conference with exciting players --- what can you wish for with teams like Patriots , Steelers , Broncos and last but not the least the COLTS... Each of these teams has the best set of players they could hope for ... Contrary the NFC isn't really all that strong , the really good teams to reackon in NFC are the Panthers ! The seahawks have to prove themeselves this time around to be considerend a force to reackon with in the next season and beyond.
I optimists and pessimists are equally unclear on the seahawks the game this week end is going to be a lot easier for seattle than the one they will face next week at the conference championship , the panthers have a lot more Playoff experience than the other teams in the conference and i do believe that would be a critical factor.
If you are seahawk fan i would say you should wish and pray for the bears in the conference championship.
With just 2 and half days to go for the kick off i can't wait for the game .. Go Hawks the NFC conference is all yours ! Happy new year !Its a new year , start something new isn't that what resolutions are all about ?
This year i have decided to (not resolved to but decided to ...)
1) Learn to swim
2) Do something at work that would set me on course to move ahead
3) Work on social skills
Let me know if you have any thoughts or share your resolutions .... |
